The vision of Spirited Compass comes from its founder, Raghuveeran Kumardas — a filmmaker, writer, and curator of soulful experiences. Born and raised in Bangalore, Raghuveeran's journey has always been guided by curiosity and creativity.
After completing his schooling, Raghuveeran joined IIT Madras to study Aeronautical Engineering but soon realized that his true calling lay in the arts. Awarded a scholarship to study in England, he earned his BA in Creative Writing, Technical Theatre, and Drama, followed by an MFA in Filmmaking. His training combined narrative depth with technical precision — skills that shaped his journey as a producer and storyteller.
After completing his studies, Raghuveeran worked extensively in the world of documentaries — producing, assisting, and leading several acclaimed projects. He also worked as a writer and assistant on South Indian feature films, managing production from script to post. These experiences built his foundation in storytelling and project execution.
But the true spark behind Spirited Compass came during a solo journey across India on his vintage 1979 Royal Enfield. Along the way, he met musicians, performers, and folk artists who carried centuries of tradition in their voices, instruments, and stories. It was on those dusty roads and quiet villages that the idea took root — not to "revive" these art forms, but to shine a light on them.

That philosophy became the heartbeat of Spirited Compass — a way to tell the stories of our culture, through sound, film, and travel.
